There’s something quietly electric about a brand-new band stepping onto a stage - especially when that stage is the Bournemouth bandstand, with the sea breeze drifting in and a curious crowd gathering. We are Swing Squad, a teen jazz band bringing exactly that energy: fresh, fearless, and full of promise.
Made up of young musicians with a shared love for jazz, the group blends enthusiasm with surprising musical maturity. While they may be new as an ensemble, each member brings their own experience, influences, and personality into the mix. The result is a sound that feels both rooted in tradition and alive with modern creativity.
Come along and experience our willingness to experiment with sound. Alongside jazz standards you’ll find modern songs - ones you might not expect to hear in a jazz setting - transformed with swing, groove, and inventive arrangements. A well-known chart hit becomes something entirely new: syncopated, expressive, and undeniably jazzy. Dip in and out as you wander thriugh the Lower Gardens, or bring a deck chair and enjoy the whole show.
